Northwestern
featured original cover art for the entire 1946 season-- much of it
very creative. However, for 1947 through 1949 NU unfortunately
only used generic, syndicated cover images.

Iowa State - Classic Cover
For
this cover, NU briefly abandoned the cute Willie comic character and
employed a far more menacing Wildcat, huddled with NU's team. It
is the tenth of twenty CLASSIC NU PROGRAM COVERS.

Indiana - Classic Cover
Its
dramatic use of the early 1930s version of the Wildcat, superimposed
with the Harvest Moon, evokes fall football, NU style. It is
among the CLASSIC NU PROGRAM COVERS.

NU reused this cover in 1950, with a change to the color scheme.

Vanderbilt
NU in 1947 returned to using generic cover images. Michigan would also use this cover in 1948, for its home game vs. NU.

The '47 Notre Dame game is the first of several games at Dyche Stadium in late '40s that featured programs
