Oregon Preview and Prediction
By The Lowes Line Staff
Matchup: Oregon Ducks (2-0) at Northwestern Wildcats (1-1)
Location: Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium, Evanston, IL
Date: Saturday, September 13, 2025, 11a CT
TV: Fox - Big Noon Kickoff with pregame based in Evanston
Line: Oregon by 27.5, o/u: 48.5
Outlook:
Alright, lets get a couple things out of the way. Why did Fox
decide to locate their pregame on the Lakefront this weekend? This game
is going to be a massacre. Classes start Tuesday, so maybe most
students are on campus. Could we get a keg stand or six on
national TV? Who knows… but this is a sure thing, stumbling
from the lake is a heck of a lot easier than face skiing down Central
Street, and that may be all that an NU fan could hope for
Saturday.
Oregon “played” their non conference game against Oklahoma State last
week. Power four school vs power four school. Those
games are supposed to provide a bit of a test. Ummmm, the
Cowboys did not get the message. I’m not sure if they thought the
game was in Corvallis but no one showed up in Eugene. This
is the way the game went -
1st quarter - TD Ducks, punt, TD Ducks, punt, TD Ducks - 20-0
2nd quarter - OK State FG, TD Ducks, punt, TD Ducks, punt, TD Ducks 41-3
By halftime - Mike Gundy (editorial comments follow) stormed midfield
and was seen screaming “This embarrasses me to be involved in
athletics. My athletes aren’t professional athletes. Don’t
pick on my athletes. Attacking amateur athletes like this.
Come after me!! I’m a man, I’m 40!!” Well Coach Lanning and
the Ducks obliged in the 3rd quarter.
Four more touchdowns, and it was 69-3 before the 4th quarter started.
The Ducks are led by QB Dante Moore who is in year 2 with the Ducks
offense sitting last year after transferring from UCLA. Senior RB
Noah Whittington is AVERAGING a whopping 11.4 yards per carry and the
WR room of Benson, Bryant, Moore and McClellan are explosive. Dakorien
Moore was the #1 WR recruit last season and watching game video from
last week, you can see why. The defense is stout as well forcing
10 punts last week and look to continue this dominance.
Northwestern faced off against Western Illinois in their 2025 home
opener, pouncing on the Leathernecks 42-7. Transfer QB Preston
Stone has looked dubious to begin this season. Just an
unmitigated disaster in NOLA vs Tulane as he committed 5 turnovers.
Last week against the Leathernecks, Stone threw a couple good balls
after a first drive that included one Lowes Line comment “Stone still
throwing to covered receivers.” The WR corps has
limited ability to separate, the RB room just lost leader Cam Porter
for the season (welcome Caleb Komolafe to the fold). The
defense has relied on a bend but don’t break philosophy for decades
now. Hmmm..
Prediction - After last season’s heartbreaking
loss in the Rose Bowl - the Ducks have something to prove this year -
Bugs may have it right and this year very well could be a “Duck
Season,” because it surely is not a Wildcat one.

Final - Oregon 56, Northwestern 6 - Take the Ducks and give the points, smashing the over
Season to Date - 2-0 ATS and 2-0 SU
