Indiana Preview and Prediction
By The Lowes Line Staff
Matchup: Indiana Hoosiers (5-0, 2-0) at Northwestern Wildcats (2-2, 0-1)
Date: Saturday, Oct 5, 2024, 2:30 p.m. (CDT)
Place: on the Lakefill
TV: BTN
Line: Indiana (-13)
Outlook: As Huey Lewis said, "we are Going Back in Time"
Hard to follow a Lowes Line like Week 4. Graciously the 'Cats and
the staff here were given an extra week to recover from the road trip.
I will try to rehash the Washington game without the help of a numbing agent, but it would be better if you did.
As mentioned in the previous Lowes Line, it felt like we had travelled
back to the early 90's to watch the 'Cats play. The defense was
decent but the offense was terrible. NU's quarterback was 8 for
27 with 2 picks. And he was also the leading rusher with 21
yards. The 'Cats offense totaled 112 yards in the entire
game. And just like the painful years of our youth in Dyche,
there would be moments of excitement, such as a 96 yard kick return
that gave NU a first and goal at the 2 yard line. Followed by
inevitable disappointment, as this was as close as NU would get to the
endzone as they ran 4 plays for exactly zero yards.
This week the undefeated #23 ranked Hoosiers are visiting the
Lakefill. They are having a promising season with a new head
coach who brought players with him and guys they have picked up in the
Portal. The Hoosiers have scored over 31 points in each of their
games. NU could not score 31 times in a month at the Chicken
Ranch.
The last time Indiana won in Evanston was 1993. We were
there. Well relatively. We were at the Stadium, but that
was Senior year; we were in the parking lot performing previously
mentioned stands on Kegs. Enjoy this trip back to memory lane
from the comfort of your rocker/recliner while drinking a little barrel
of Mickey's malt liquor and popping Atorvastatin.
Prediction: Going to be ugly. NU's
defense keeps it close for awhile but with no offensive support the
Hoosiers run away with this one.
Indiana 38 - Northwestern 13 Hoosiers cover.
Season To Date:
Straight Up: 3-1, Against The Spread: 3-1
The Lowes Line is an
e-mailed description of NU's
next
football game, with an invariably fearless prediction of the outcome
and
how NU will fare against what the other "experts" predict. Our
good
friend and Brother Marcus Lowes began the broadcast mailing in 1996.
The crack Lowes Line Staff (alumni Lone Star Cat,
GallopingGrapes, P.S. O'Briant, Eric Cockerill, Joel Kanvik, Charlie Simon, and
MO'Cats) have continued the Line in memory of Marcus.
For
the 2024 season it has returned to HailToPurple.com,
for anyone to enjoy. Thanks to the gridiron brain trust at the Lowes
Line!
