In
2007, at a time when I had been posting HailToPurple.com for over seven
years, had just scaled down my level of activity on the site, and was
considering mothballing it, Jonathan Hodges stepped in and began
providing game analysis and commentary. Jonathan had started his
own NU football blog in 2004, but in 2007 his blog went down, and he
moved to HTP.
Within a year of the move Jonathan had become this site's main content
provider, writing game previews, post-game analysis, and insightful
commentary about the state of the Northwestern football program.
He began the HTP Twitter and Facebook pages, taking HailToPurple beyond
my archaic, old-school web page and into social media. His
Twitter feed now has over 850 followers and nearly 9,000 messages.
Jonathan is moving on, taking leave of HailToPurple in order to focus
on work and family. He leaves a collection of some of the
best-written, even-handed, and detailed NU football commentary produced
by the team's fan base. For over five years he provided this
fantastic commentary here with no other compensation than the
satisfaction of having contributed a truly valuable point of view of
Wildcat football.
Thank you, jhodges. Thank you for representing the voice of NU
fans as it should be: passionate, balanced, knowledgeable, and
unflinching.
