Netter Takes Part in Allstate Good Works Team

The following comes from the Allstate Good Works Team: Members of the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, a national community service award honoring college football players who stand out for their commitment to volunteerism, shared their football skills with children of the YMCA of Greater New Orleans on January 2, 2012. The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® featured Northwestern's own senior offensive lineman, Al Netter, among others.

Before Michigan and Virginia Tech took the field for the 78th Allstate Sugar Bowl, members of this year’s Allstate AFCA Good Works Team brought their passion for community service to New Orleans to teach more than 200 local YMCA children the fundamentals of football as part of a special clinic at Tad Gormley Stadium.

The children were completely surprised when the college football players were introduced one by one in their game jerseys before leading the sport’s future stars through a series of drills and skills competitions.

The football clinic marks the fourth consecutive year that members of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team have traveled to the Crescent City to make a positive impact on the community leading up to the Sugar Bowl.
