Fitz Picks Braun as New DC
Northwestern's
new defensive coordinator is North Dakota State DC David Braun. Coach
Fitzgerald selected Braun to head NU's rebuilding effort on defense
after sacking Jim O'Neil at the conclusion of the 2022 season.
Braun had served as the Bisons' DC for four seasons and helped the team
win two FCS championship games; however, he has no experience with FBS
programs.
Speaking on North Dakota State radio several days
after accepting the NU position, Braun said that his four years at NDSU
"were a dream come true," and that heading to Evanston was confirmation
of what the Bison defense had accomplished recently.
"[It's] an opportunity to coach in the Big Ten-- more importantly, to
do it for a man that I truly respect. . . It'll be exciting, it'll be
chaotic, it'll be awesome. . . It's going to be an adventure."
